2017 Reflections and 2018 Goals

Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas festivities and are still relaxing before the new year! Now, in order to wave goodbye to 2017, I thought I would reflect on this past year and the goal I set in my 2016 reflections post, and of course, set myself some new goals for 2018.

Let's talk about 2017...

This year has been an odd one for me, although definitely the fastest yet. The end of 2016 saw me desperately ready for change and progression, which I did finally achieve when I upped sticks and moved to Leicester for university in September. I never could have predicted that my life would change quite that way and I'm still undecided as to whether it was a good idea - only time will tell.

As for my goal, I think I can say I achieved it; I wanted to take more steps to control and move my life forward. I certainly took more action and did things instead of just talking about it. My blog is something I'm particularly proud of and continue to enjoy, even if I did lose my way for a few months there. From January to September I posted once a week, every week, and I'm super proud of that. I really hope that when I go back to uni, I can try and maintain some sort of schedule.

Goals for 2018

Now that my main focus in my life is on getting a degree, I know 2018 is going to be wildly different from the last few years, so I have a few things I want to focus on:

  • Work smarter at uni; this is not necessarily the same as harder
  • Realign my relationships; tip: have company but don't waste time
  • Save money where possible
  • Get at least a 2:1 for first year
  • Maintain my blog schedule
  • Make the most of the opportunities at uni; go to more events, try new things
  • Revisit Ireland; or at least save money to go back after uni
  • Write more of my own ideas; not just uni work - start a poetry book, maintain that journal, work on that novel / screenplay
  • Maintain a positive attitude / outlook to just 'feel' happier
  • Be a more active participant in my life, not just a spectator; take charge and make things happen

Here's wishing you a very happy new year and may 2018 be our best year yet!
