A Summer To Do List

Finally! After thirty two weeks of grilling hard work, I've completed my first year at university!
Now, with an exciting four and half months off, I've decided to make a list of all the things I want to do over Summer...

HAVE A BREAK!
I'll be the first to note that since I started university I have worked my chin into the ground, particularly in the final month - working at least ten hour days to get the grades I'm aiming for! At last, I have time to chill for a bit, so I've granted myself three weeks to relax and have a complete break, with absolutely no work or stress hanging over my shoulders.

CATCH UP WITH FAMILY AND PALS
Living like a total recluse during my assignments at uni means I'm now so ready to come back out of hibernation into freedom. My diary is already filling up with dates with different pals, and I'm sure numerous evenings will be spent catching up with my mum, sharing our love for Gogglebox and First Dates.

GO TO SOME EVENTS
Again, I already have a few dates in the diary to get me back out and about, my most anticipated will be the FASHANNE awards in June. I feel like I've been confined to my dorm room with my head buried in my laptop for so long, I cannot wait to get back outside in the real world!

EARN MONEY
After chilling out, my next step is to earn back some of that spent cash I've been throwing down the drain since September - mostly on cheese, oops. Oddly, I think I'll enjoy going back to the routine of my old job: no heavy responsibilities, no stress and no work outside of the 9-5 hours with almost immediate rewards, yes pls.

READ FOR PLEASURE (AND CRAFT!)
One of the big things my uni course has encouraged is reading. I used to read fiction a lot as a child, but in the age of smartphones and computers, I'm very guilty of stepping away from a good ol' book. Uni has reintroduced me to the wonders of the written word, the smell of the books and the tactile pleasure of highlighting my favourites lines and jotting notes in the margins. I challenge myself to swallow at least one collection of poetry and two novels, maybe even some short stories here and there too! I can already tell I'm going to miss DMU's library...

MAINTAIN MY EARLY MORNING ROUTINE
For the last few weeks I've been getting up between 7-8am. I've been really enjoying bright early mornings and feeling like I've accomplished something before 12pm. Hopefully I won't get back into late nights after chin-wagging with my mum until 2am.

CLEAN OUT MY WARDROBE
Having to ferry my clothes to and from Leicester every few months has given me the chance to seriously oil out my seasonal wardrobe. Now that money is tighter, I'm a lot more careful about the clothes I buy, choosing more classic Parisian styles, like wedge heels that can be carried over through the seasons.  Once I've got everything back in one place, it's time for a clear out.

BOOK A HOLIDAY
In the peaks of stress at uni, all I wanted to do was to sit by a beach and soak up the sun with my eyes shut. Last year when I went to Tenerife, I didn't know what it meant to need a holiday, but dang now I do - now I NEED ONE. Even just a weekend away with my close pals will do just fine.

KEEP WRITING!
Although I'm away from the university environment, there's no reason for me not to keep writing. My blogging schedule will be stuck to, I'm hoping to crack out a nice wodge of poetry and work on the plethora of novels and scripts I have on the back-burner.
