The Sculptor

"In the dead of night, a lonely sculptor is confronted by nightmares from his past."

This piece was the first script I wrote for entry to my Creative Writing degree when I was 22. We were given a simple stimulus of "wax" and left to our own devices to make it dazzle, in just 400 words.

I remember doing a fair bit of research trying to come up with an original take on the stimulus. In hindsight, I still think it worked well; informing the entire tone and focus of the piece. That said, three years later I can definitely see numerous changes I'd make now, from words, sentence length, punctuation - you name it. But I hope in posting the original, it'll remind me of how much I have learned. There's always room to improve.

I hope you enjoy.
